Now that Acer has expanded its portfolio of monitors by unleashing the H4 series of LCDs, it is to be expected that other companies would try to match, if not even raise the stakes. This is why it will likely come as no surprise to learn that German display specialist Wortmann AG has once again entered the spotlight and presented yet another liquid crystal display (LCD) eager to at least facilitate the appearance of advanced cases of dropped jaws.

Granted, the new Terra series member doesn't exactly do its best to be the greatest display in history, but it still has a number of noteworthy assets that set it apart from the fold. It bears the name of Terra 2260W, has a diagonal of 21.5 inches, 54.6 centimeters as it were (the product measures 507 x 393 x 218 mm). The screen aspect ratio is, predictably, the cinematic 16:9, which goes quite well with the native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Now comes the list of specifications that hopes to ensure the price tag of 259 Euro is completely justified, if not more so. For one, the panel has a brightness of 250 cd/m2, not the best in the world but more than sufficient for a desktop screen. The response time is also decent, of 5ms. What truly stands out, however, is the dynamic contract ratio (DCR), equal to no less than 10,000,000:1. Combined with the viewing angles of horizontal 170° and vertical 160°, this makes for quite a view when watching Full HD videos.

Other specifications of the LCD include 16.7 million colors, a weight of 3.2 kilograms, D-Sub, DVI and HDMI inputs, a piano black finish and a power consumption of only 18W (under 1W during standby). The Terra 2260W is accompanied by a three-year warranty and has already been listed on its maker's official website.
