WorldGate, a leading provider of personal video phones and related technology announced today's latest video phone: the
Ojo Shadow, not an ordinary phone, but a video phone. This comes after the company recently unveiled the portable
Ojo Video Phone at the CES 2007 in Las Vegas.
The Ojo Shadow Video phone will debut on electronic retailer Home Shopping Network. The device is probably going to make its teleshopping debut at 8:00AM EST. For those who aren't so good at waking up in the morning, the company is also selling a set of two for, cough, $499. This is not an ordinary phone, but a video phone. The bad news is that you'll have to use a computer that's connected to the internet. Since it's a VoIP (Voice over IP) based phone, it's probably a good idea to stick with your "modjo-rising" web-cam based Skype video-calls. Oh, and there's also the 9,95 $ monthly service fee (unlimited calls).
The Ojo Shadow phone offers high quality, real-time, two-way video communications with video messaging. Buyers will get a large high-resolution LCD display (854 x 480), up to 20 minutes of video messaging, photo-based caller ID, and automatic white balance and backlight compensation.
"HSN is an important piece of our retail strategy as we expand the availability of Ojo for connecting families and friends. Having this multi-channel retailing giant offer Ojo is testimony to their conference in the Internet-based video telephone experience Ojo brings to their marketplace", said Hal Krisbergh, Chairman and CEO, WorldGate.
