The world’s tallest teenager, Elisany de Cruz Silva, has recently announced that she will marry her fiancé Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho, despite him being over one foot (0.30m) shorter than her.

Elisany is from Brazil and at 18 years old stands at a staggering 6 feet 8 inches (2.03m). Although the teen doesn’t like to draw people’s attention, now that she is getting married, she will also become the world’s tallest bride and will certainly get more attention than she ever wanted.

The aspiring model and her fiancé Francinaldo, who is just 5 feet 4 inches (1.63m), had been dating for more than three years when he proposed on March 29. According to Daily Mail, the 23-year-old construction worker dropped to one knee and popped the question after a romantic walk on the beach.

“I told him many times, ‘do not ask me to marry you because my answer will be no’ — I think that’s what he was thinking,” Elisany said. “I was so nervous when I saw him there. I don't even know how I coped.”

The newly-engaged couple say they haven’t began the wedding preparations yet, as they are planning on a long engagement.

“We have taken just one step towards the wedding - which was me asking her to marry me. We are giving it some time to get it all in order,” Francinaldo said.

But despite this, the bride-to-be already has a dress for the big day and they already imagine how the church will be and what the best men and bridesmaids will wear.

The couple still draws stares from onlookers, even in their hometown, but Francinaldo says he is proud to show her off and curious looks don’t bother him.

“I am always boasting about being with her. Everyone thinks she is beautiful — my friends think she is beautiful. She is a person that is very different and I know I can make her happy. Our relationship is special because she understands me and I understand her,” he said.

Elisany is so tall due to a rare form of gigantism caused by a tumor on her pituitary gland, which regulates growth. And while women over 6 feet (1.82m) usually have a masculine face and body, the teenager has managed to stay feminine and is really attractive.

The couple have been living together in the Brazilian town of Salinopolis for a year now and despite the significant difference in height they seem to be in a happy relationship, and are looking forward to become parents.
