Sultan Kosen, the 27-year-old who currently holds the record for the world’s tallest man, is now in the US, where he’s about to undergo surgical work on his mouth to the tune of $50,000.

According to the Orange County Register’s In Your Face column, Sultan will benefit for all the dental work without actually paying a dime, since Dr. Eric Johnson of San Clemente has already agreed to work on his free of charge.

Granted, the publicity he’ll get for it is priceless. Either way, Sultan will undergo all necessary procedures to make his smile brighter and healthier, from veneers to cavity treatment.

For the smile makeover, Sultan has to thank Dr. Johnson’s wife, who saw a documentary about the Turkish giant and was so moved by his story that she pled with her husband to do it until he finally gave in.

“After dental specialists complete preparatory work on Kosen’s mouth – fixing cavities and lesions – he will get dental veneers, a thin layer of material placed over the tooth surface,” the e-zine writes.

This is not just regular dental work either, since Sultan’s case is more challenging (therefore implies bigger expenses as well) because of his condition and how he developed because of it.

“A tumor on his pituitary gland caused the production of excessive growth hormones, which led to his unchecked growth. The disease caused his jaw to grow, but not his teeth, so he ended up with gaps between the teeth,” the Orange County Register writes.

Sultan, who has often talked about his younger days and the teasing and humiliation he had to endure, is still looking for love and a wife, and he hopes his new smile will help him conquer ladies’ hearts like no other.

He knows a lot of people will have to work extra hours for it, which is why he’s more than happy they’ve agreed to do it for free.
