Salustiano Sanchez-Blazquez, the world's oldest man, has passed away in a New York nursing home.

He was born on June 8th, 1901, which would have made him 112 years old at the time of his death. He was a native of the El Tejado de Bejar village in Spain who came to the US for a job in coal mining.

He worked in Lynch, Kentucky in the 20s, then moved to the Niagara Falls area to build furnaces and execute construction works.

"I’m an old man and let’s leave it at that," he said when he found out he would be awarded the record title by Guinness.

He mentioned that his daily routine of eating a banana and taking six Anacins was keeping him young. According to Gothamist, his 69-year-old daughter credits his longevity to his stubbornness.
