These are dual channel memory kits with two 4 GB modules each

Computer memory expert manufacturer Team Group, a brand well-known to the enthusiasts, has just announced a new dual channel DDR3 memory kit that runs at a record-breaking 3GHz, on its official website. This is a kit consisting of two 2 GB modules.

The company warns buyers that the memory is only certified to work in pairs, so quad channel users may buy two sets, but there is no official guarantee that they’ll work at 3000 MHz with the specified latency settings.

The pack is called the Limited Edition Xtreem DDR3 3000 CL11 and comes with fully compliant Intel XMP 1.3 support, so basically they’ll work at the rated 3000 MHZ right out of the box on mainboards with XMP 1.3 support.

We still don’t know how limited this “Limited Edition” will be, but we’re sure that Team Group’s new Xtreem memory kit is going to be very popular among the enthusiasts in the following months.

The price has not been made available officially, but considering that Team Group’s previous record breaking kit of 16 GB is around 600 USD, we shouldn’t expect the Limited Edition Xtreem DDR3 3000 CL11 to come cheaper than 350 USD.

The company’s new kit is obviously targeted for the gamers and the enthusiasts, but this will be a great addition to a serious workstation, as the higher memory bandwidth will surely add computing performance, as well at more bandwidth for the iGPU.

Hard working professionals that might be tempted to play a short Diablo III session will find that Intel’s HD4000 iGPU can significantly benefit from the added memory bandwidth.

We would rather say AMD’s Trinity iGPU would be the best fit when it comes to capitalizing on memory bandwidth, but we’ll have to wait until August to see the desktop versions.
