Nylon might not be the best material, but the dress does work as proof of concept

We've seen quite a few strange things being made with 3D Printing technology, but the dress worn by burlesque star and model Dita Von Teese might just be the strangest thing yet.

Nylon isn't exactly the most appropriate material for clothing, but 3D Printers are currently limited to plastics, so it's not like Teese had much choice there.

The gown was crafted by design studios Francis Bitonti and Michael Schmidt specifically for her. Also, 17 different sections were 3D Printed by 3D-printing service Shapeways.

Overall, the dress has 3,000 joints. It curves around the woman’s body, according to the Fibonacci Sequence. 12,000 Swarovski crystals adorn it as well.
