New York's Times Square is home to some of the world's most impressive digital signage systems, including here what's touted to be the world's largest continuous surface Digital LED screen, installed by a company called D3 Led.

The respective display, set up at 1568 Broadway above the entrance to the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel at West 47th Street, measures one hundred feet wide by fifty feet high, and was designed to serve multiple advertisers.

The display uses 5 million LEDs, all of which are are configured into 3200 of D3's 10mm TE modules that are housed in 18 individual cabinets.

Additionally, the display manages to attain quite an impressive resolution (4x HD, to be precise), while its front End system was designed by D3 to drive the digital signage solution at very high frame rates.

We'll also have to mention that installing this huge LED display solution was a pretty daunting job, especially given the fact that it weighs around 82,000 lb.

Furthermore, the LED display is capable of exchanging data transmitted via cell phone and broadcasting HD video feeds, which makes it a very interesting interactive platform for third-party advertisers.

Plus, the company also reveals the fact that a live 3G-HDSDI video production studio enables the display to be utilized for live events in Times Square, such as the famous New Year's outdoor party.

"D3's proprietary digital technology allows advertisers to create interactive and customizable branding experiences for consumers," said Jason Barak, D3 managing partner.

"Our newest LED display system at 1568 Broadway is a real game changer, and it absolutely raises the bar in the digital display space," Mr. Barak concluded.

Of course, there's absolutely no mention within the company's statement just how much TSQ Digital, the customer who's commissioned this very impressive display solution, has paid for this thing, but given its dimensions and display features, we're pretty sure that the sum was quite a hefty one.
