World of Warcraft Scores an Emmy for South Park

Console launches and gaming cult hits have become more often present in today's media, so famous shows like South Park couldn't have avoided this topic. We've seen Cartman freezing himself in Season 10, in order to wake up just in time for the Nintendo Wii launch in the US and that was one mighty
fine episode I'll tell you. It seems that in the same season another gaming-related episode was produced, with the aid of Blizzard, turning into a machinima masterpiece that just got the Emmy Award.

In case you don't know what machinima is, the term is used to describe a production technique for modern motion pictures which features the tools usually used for the videogames' production. This technique relies heavily on the use of CGI (computer-generated imagery) and 3D engines, the result being superb 3D animation.

The best MMO was turned into a great machinima, so great that the Emmy award was fully deserved and I have to say that I'm not surprised that the brilliant South Park creators have struck gold again. "Make Love, Not Warcraft" was the name of the episode that got the award and in case you missed it, there's still the chance of renting the entire Season 10 for a pretty good laugh. I'm curious if we get the chance to see South Park messing with the Halo hysteria, especially because there's already some neat Halo-based machinima series running and everyone adores it.

"Red vs. Blue" is its name and you should check it out, especially if you've never seen a machinima production before. I for one, would suggest the brilliant minds that gave us the South Park series to pick on Sony or Microsoft for their faulty consoles, as they've already picked on Nintendo, of course in the funny and witty way that made them famous.
