Blizzard has revealed some intriguing numbers from the history of its soon-to-be 10-year-old massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft.

"From the rise of Onyxia to the fight for Pandaria, more than 100 million of you across the globe have visited Azeroth since the first realms went live in 2004," the official Battle.net blog post debuts.

The inner workings of Azeroth are detailed in an extensive infographic, showing that the game's two factions are quite evenly balanced, with Alliance having a slight upper hand at 52 percent of the game's population.

There have been over 500 million characters created in World of Warcraft, with users joining over 9 million guilds and creating over 100k pages of content in the world's biggest video game wiki.

The in-game text adds up to 6 million words, which is enough to recount Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings epic 12 times over.

Showing what in-game characters are up to in their everyday life, Blizzard reveals that the heroes of Azeroth delve into over 900k PvE instances each day, and the Horde and Alliance clash in 670k PvP instances daily.

Over 3.6 million pet battles take place every single day, and out of the 619 unique pets, the most common is the Squirrel. Out of the 504 unique in-game mounts players use to get around the world, the most elusive is the fabled Heavenly onyx Cloud Serpent.

Auctions are another popular pastime with the World of Warcraft population, with over 2.8 million daily trades occurring with the help of the 71 auctioneers scattered throughout Azeroth.

This year's Warlord of Draenor expansion will be World of Warcraft's fifth major content update, also celebrating 10 years of World of Warcraft and 20 years since the WarCraft saga started, with real time strategy title WarCraft: Orcs & Humans.
