Video game developer Blizzard is announcing that the major 6.2 patch for World of Warcraft is being launched on June 24 and is designed to introduce a wide range of changes to the MMO, with the biggest addition being a new story chapter that will allow players to face Gul'dan and the last of the Iron Horde forces.

A central hub page is offered to the fans to allow them to get access to details about all the new content that is being added to the title.

The name Fury of Hellfire, which is being used for patch 6.2, is designed to show the fact that gamers will need to upgrade their garrison and recruit powerful forces in order to take down some of the most powerful enemies in World of Warcraft.

The fact that the Iron Horde story is being brought to an end might be a signal that Blizzard is internally working on another major expansion for the MMO, which might be announced during the coming BlizzCon event scheduled to take place in the fall.

Recently, player numbers for World of Warcraft have declined, but with every new content drop some older gamers return to the title to take control of their characters once again and explore the new locations and mechanics.

World of Warcraft is also getting Timewalking and flying in patch 6.2

When it comes to flying, Blizzard has reached a compromise and is willing to allow players to take to the sky and use their unique mounts, but only once they get a new meta-achievement that shows that they have completely explored a location on foot.

A minor patch that will come at a later date will actually enable the mechanic.

Timewalking for World of Warcraft is a new concept that allows players to take part in new events that will include a major power decrease for their characters, which is designed to introduce a new level of challenge to the MMO.

Blizzard states, "In World of Warcraft Patch 6.2, we're introducing a new series of seven different weekend Bonus Events, two of which will feature Timewalking Dungeons—one in Outland dungeons for characters level 71 and higher, and another in Northrend dungeons for level 81 and higher."

The studio is not saying whether it is planning a major maintenance for World of Warcraft in order to introduce the new patch.
