World of Warcraft will be on the receiving end of a massive patch, taking it to version 4.2, in the following months, and Blizzard has already detailed some of the main features that will be packed into it.

World of Warcraft has barely hit version 4.1, but Blizzard is already thinking about the next big update and what will be included for the 12+ million World of Warcraft subscribers.

Talking with Kotaku, Blizzard's Cory Stockton revealed some of the main things that will appear in patch 4.2 for the massively popular online game.

Among them, the biggest addition is a new raid in the Firelands, which will see 10 or 25-man raids try to take down Ragnaros, a Firelord that has been assaulting the Nordrassil World Tree since the release of the last year's Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft.

Now, players will be able to engage in six boss fights before they get a chance to take down Ragnaros and earn some extremely attractive loot.

Among the things included we have special armors, styled to match the one on Ragnaros, which will drop throughout the fight, a non-legendary version of his mace, Sulfuros, as well as special druid staff, which drops in one of the earlier bosses and can transform its wielder into a molten cat.

Three new mounts are included in the Fireland raid, one for completing all of the achievements, a random drop and a special mount that appears every time Ragnaros falls.

In order to make raiding that much easier, Blizzard has also revealed that a special Encounter Journal will be included in World of Warcraft update 4.2, which gives players instant access to information about raid or dungeon bosses, from what loot they drop to what sort of attacks they have.

At the launch of update 4.2, the Encounter Journal will have data on the Firelands raid, the revamped Troll dungeons from patch 4.1 as well as the rest of the Cataclysm raids and dungeons, and Blizzard hopes to include information about all of the encounters in WoW with a later update.

The Firelands will also receive new daily quest hubs, which will offer three out of six quests to users, at random, in order to keep things interesting.

Once players gain access to the Hyjal area, they can earn currency to unlock quest hubs, which will appear only to them, thanks to WoW's phasing system.

Players of the game who want to know more about its story and characters, especially Thrall, the former Warchief of the Horde faction, will see a new quest line focus on him, with new gameplay and facial animations being designed for him.

Last but not least, the legendary weapon included in patch 4.2 will be a caster staff, which, when earned by a guild, unlocks a special blue dragon whelping pet that can be bought from the Guild store by players.

World of Warcraft patch 4.2 will be released in the following months, so fans will still have to wait until they can get their hands on all this new content.
