One of the most important developers working on the MMO World of Warcraft has said that the team he leads is not focused on keeping subscriber numbers for the game up but on creating an experience that is the best it can be for all those who try it out.

J. Allen Brack, who is the project manager working on Cataclysm, has stated, “You know, traditionally we are pretty terrible at predicting what happens with subscription numbers.
So the thing we try to do is focus on just making WoW the best that it can be and so far that’s worked pretty well for us. We’ve done a pretty good job in terms of players’ subscription rates.”

The Blizzard executive also says that those who have previously enjoyed the game will return to see all the change which the new expansion introduces.

The team at Blizzard has been unable to tell exactly how many people will play World of Warcraft, but they have also erred on the side of caution, underestimating the amount of attention the MMO would attract.

At the moment the game is being played by more than 12 million people, making it the most successful subscription-based title in the gaming world.

Blizzard has managed to keep players interested by delivering a constant stream of expansion which have expanded the scope of the gaming world while also quickly working to patch any problems and balance issues that gamers have signaled on the official forums.

On December 7, World of Warcraft is set to get the new Cataclysm expansion, the most ambitious so far in the history of the experience.

The story is based around the dragon aspect of Deathwing who is coming back to assault the world and will make significant changes to the world.

Cataclysm also raises the level cap and introduces two new playable races.
