It’s official. Blizzard Entertainment has cut off all life support to World of Warcraft on Macs running OS X 10.5, effectively ending development for future patches and add-ons targeting the five-year-old Mac OS.

The first documented change in World of Warcraft Patch 5.0.4 is that “Mac OS X 10.5 is no longer supported.”

Moving past the bad news, Blizzard is happy to inform owners of a new MacBook Pro that the game now boasts full support for Retina displays, as well as support for game resolutions that match Mac screen aspect ratios.

Gamers should now be able to switch between Windowed and Fullscreen display modes much faster, and there’s a new “Help” menu for players looking to document themselves using Blizzard’s support articles.

A couple new menu items allow players to copy system information to the Clipboard, as well as to gain access to various game files and folders in the Finder.
