Blizzard is still focusing on the World of Warcraft movie that's been stuck in development for quite some time, at least according to Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Kotick.

World of Warcraft is one of the most popular online games in the world so it was obvious that a movie adaptation would be released at some point in time.

The project even had prestigious director Sam Raimi attached to it, but he recently confirmed that he's exiting the movie's development in order to focus on Oz: The Great and Powerful.

This hasn't doomed the project, at least according to Bobby Kotick, who told Variety that the World of Warcraft movie is "important to Blizzard, it's important to me."

"They're very excited about having a World of Warcraft film," said Kotick of Blizzard. "They've been very careful and thoughtful about the development process."

Writer Charles Leavitt is still working on the script and, according to the executive, production company Legendary Pictures is quite interested in the whole project.

Even if the companies are investing in the movie, it's still going to be a long time before the world of Azeroth will appear on the silver screen.
