Blizzard has confirmed that it's currently exploring ways to add microtransactions to its popular World of Warcraft MMORPG, as it wants to allow players from certain regions to make purchases directly within the game.

World of Warcraft, despite a big drop in the number of paying subscribers, is still one of the biggest online games in the world and has many loyal fans that are eager to pay Blizzard a monthly fee.

Now, it seems that the studio is working to implement new ways of getting money out of the hands of players, as a Blizzard representative confirmed on the Battle.net forums that the team is exploring "the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game."

The discussion started when one player found a reference to an in-game shop in the description of a special spell.

As of yet, Blizzard won't share any other details about its microtransaction plans.
