World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Cataclysm, has just received a stunning new cinematic introduction, showcasing the events that will change the game's landscape and add whole new things to the extremely popular online role playing game.

World of Warcraft has just received a new testimony to its huge popularity, as Blizzard announced that the title has reached 12 million paying subscribers, just after it released the game's second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, in China.

Now, in preparation for the third expansion of World of Warcraft, entitled Cataclysm, Blizzard has just revealed the game's cinematic introduction, showcasing how the game will be changed by the awakening of the ancient evil dragon Deathwing the Destroyer.

This is the same cinematic that was briefly showcased this weekend by Blizzard during the Dallas Cowboys - Minnesota Vikings NFL game, but is much longer, clocking in at 2 minutes and 33 seconds.

In the video attached below, you can see how Deathwing was awaken from its sleep, and how its revival has completely reshaped the virtual land of Azeroth.

Blizzard, the game's developer, is now busy working on the title's third expansion, Cataclysm, which will not only change the map of the game, opening up new areas and effectively destroying others, but also introduce new factions and systems to the overall gameplay.

Besides polishing up the new expansion, the company is also working on implementing some of the big Cataclysm changes to the rest of the game, and has released a new patch, 4.0.1, which brought considerable modifications to many of the game's classes, a new glyph system and a reforging option.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm is scheduled to be released on December 7, and will be available as a retail package, as well as in a Collector's Edition filled with extra goodies.

Needless to say a copy of World of Warcraft and a subscription is required to be able to play the new title, while the other two expansions, The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King are also recommended.
