Blizzard celebrates the tenth anniversary of its World of Warcraft massively multiplayer online role-playing game starting today and brings forth plenty of impressive goodies for fans, including a Molten Corgi pet, a special level 100 version of the Molten Core raid, and a Team Deathmatch Battleground that pits Southshore and Tarren Mill against one another.

World of Warcraft launched many years ago, and since then, tens of millions of fans from around the world have explored the online land of Azeroth, forging their own destiny and interacting with many others just like them.

WoW turns 10 years old this weekend

After rolling out the Warlords of Draenor expansion earlier this month for World of Warcraft and after fixing some of the issues encountered by the add-on after its release, Blizzard is now kicking off the celebrations for its popular MMORPG.

This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of World of Warcraft and plenty of great anniversary-themed content will be available for all current subscribers. What's more, to ensure that it's not overwhelming players, all the special content is going to be available until the beginning of 2015, more specifically until January 6, 2015 at 10am PST.

A special pet arrives and an old dungeon returns

First up, everyone who logs into World of Warcraft during the anniversary period will get a special Molten Corgi pet to enjoy in the actual game.

Besides the fiery yet cuddly creature, Blizzard also brings forth a new version of the classic 40-player dungeon Molten Core, which will be available in the Raid Finder for level 100 players, meaning those who already have the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

"One of WoW’s classic 40-player dungeons, Molten Core, will be available in Raid Finder for level 100 players (average item level 615 required). Making it through the underground gauntlet and defeating Ragnaros will reward players with a Core Hound mount and a Warlords of Draenor Raid Finder–quality helm—100% guaranteed," Blizzard promises on the official website.

A classic battleground is also coming back

A special Team Deathmatch-style battleground that pits against each other Southshore and Tarren Mill is also going to be present during the 10-year anniversary celebration period, in two different flavors, for those from level 90 to 99 and for those who've reached level 100.

"We’ll have two different Brackets for players to take part in: one for level 90–99 characters and another for level 100. Unlike the old days of Tarren Mill vs. Southshore, this Battleground has a clearly defined victor, so you’ll need to work as a team or face crushing defeat. A win will gain you a shiny new title: either Tarren Mill Terror for the Alliance or Southshore Slayer for the Horde," the studio adds.

All the new content is already live in the popular MMORPG, so you might want to jump back into Azeroth sooner rather than later.
