Wargaming has released Update 9.0: New Frontiers for its massively multiplayer online vehicle-combat game, World of Tanks, introducing the first wave of revamped tanks and physics features.

The patch is rolling out worldwide as we speak, and players all around the world are now enjoying the new HD models of tanks, complete with high resolution texture packs and the new and improved physics functions.

The update marks the beginning of the announced updates for 2014, outlined in a series of developer videos at the start of the year.

Wargaming plans to overhaul the game's visuals, enhancing all graphics for battle arenas and tanks, as well as for in-game objects and buildings, adding ten high definition models for armored vehicles.

The updates also improve the gameplay section of World Of Tanks, as Update 9.0: New Frontiers marks the debut of the highly anticipated Historical Battles game mode.

The Historical Battles mode allows players to battle against each other in some of World War 2's most famous tank encounters.

New Frontiers adds improved versions of the American M4 Sherman, Soviet T-54 and German Tiger I, along with others. In addition, new physics functions have been implemented, and players will now be able to blow off turrets and ammo racks from enemy tanks.
