The development team at Wargaming that works on World of Tanks says that it has plans to invest significantly in eSports in 2014 in order to satisfy demand from the community to make the game more competitive.

Victor Kisyli, the chief executive officer of the company, says that more than 200,000 players have taken part in tournaments, more than 1,000 of which were organized all over the world, which represents a massive increase over 2012.

An investment of 10 million dollars (7.6 million Euro) in eSports is being prepared for 2014, which will result in an improved experience and bigger prizes for all fans of World Of Tanks.

The CEO is quoted by GamesIndustry.biz as saying that, “With our eSports team we founded a company within the company. They take care not only about game features to cater to spectators, but also about the physical organisation of the tournaments. In the beginning, it was not so much us who wanted to introduce World of Tanks to eSports, it was the players themselves who wanted to be more competitive.”

At the moment, World of Tanks has more than 80 million registered players and the company is constantly delivering new updates and more content for the game.

Wargaming is also working on World of Warplanes and World of Warships.
