A new mod project that recently appeared on the web, called World of StarCraft, which was created by a young developer using the tools in StarCraft II, is now targeted by Blizzard and its legal forces, without any sort of explanation.

Blizzard, the company behind franchises like StarCraft, Diablo or World of Warcraft, has always made a name for itself by listening to the community and supporting projects made by modders that used the tools and resources released by the company itself.

This led to popular mods like DotA, which is now being developed as a full pledged game by Valve.

Recently though, a video showcasing a very promising mod, called World of StarCraft, started making the rounds on the web, showing just how a StarCraft-themed World of Warcraft-like role-playing game would look like.

The mod is in pre-alpha stage, meaning it's still far from being ready for the public, but it seems that Blizzard isn't too pleased about this specific project.

According to the modder responsible for it, his YouTube videos were hit by copyright infringement complaints from the company.

As you can imagine, the guy is pretty angry at Blizzard for trying to completely crack down on community projects.

"You created a tool that allowed us to do anything with your assets. You encouraged us to use your assets and were eager to see what we might come up with. You had to have seen this coming?" he said in response.

"If you have a problem with what I am doing... or would like to talk about it. I'm all ears," he added, saying that he is willing to change things, including the title, if it means that the project will go on.
