Developer and publisher Wargaming has announced that it has changed the name of its naval-powered MMO, World of Battleships, to World of Warships in order to better reflect the nature of the experience that players will get from it.

Victor Kislyi, the chief executive officer of Wargaming, stated, “The company is gearing up, and so are its titles. In addition to more accurately reflecting the game's core essence, World of Warships will correspond more closely to the framework of our Wargaming universe.”

World of Warships is a free-to-play naval MMO which will allow gamers to command everything from destroyers to battleships and aircraft carriers as they play through some of the most important engagements of the XXth century.

The game is the third MMO product from Wargaming, after the already launched World Of Tanks and the in-beta World of Warplanes.

All the titles will have a joint economic system when World of Warships is launched in 2013.
