There are still plenty of fans out there who believe that “World War Z” was an awesome movie, but they are mainly people who haven't read the book written by Max Brooks. So, you can't really fault them for liking a movie in which the entire zombie apocalypse is prevented by one man – Brad Pitt.

Their interest in the film has made the sequel “World War Z 2” a reality, and, after last year a director for the movie was appointed, today we find out that the project is moving forward by naming its script writer in the person of Steven Knight, according to Variety.

The news that the movie was getting a sequel first came out in September 2013, when it was revealed by Brad Pitt himself, and at the time he confirmed that he would be reprising his role of United Nations agent Gerry Lane.

“We have so many ideas and so much information - we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from,” he said at the time, adding that “We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.”

One month later, the announcement that Marc Forster, the man responsible for directing the first movie, wouldn't make a return was also made official, and in December we found out that the job fell to Juan Antonio Bayona, who had previously worked on “The Impossible.”

Apart from starring in the film, Brad Pitt will also act as producer together with Jeremy Kleiner and DeDe Gardner with his Plan B production company. As for Knight, he recently directed the movie “Locke” with Tom Hardy and is best known for his Oscar nomination in 2004 for the film “Dirty Pretty Things.”
