NXT has just announced that the company will launch the world's first front projection screen using NXT's SoundVu technology to produce sound directly from the screen itself - the ASS-60AK Speaker Screen from Authentic Ltd., informs Engadget. NXT's SoundVu technology enables the projection screen to become a loudspeaker by 'exciting' the surface. Consequently, the vibrations are undetectable to the naked eye so image quality is preserved while producing high quality sound.
The ASS-60AK has been mass produced in the Teonex facility, a Teijin Fibers Ltd plant which benefits from one of the most advanced system of equipment.
The Speaker Screen is able to deliver the vocal, or centre channel, of a surround sound system, as is the case in commercial movie theatres where permanently installed, perforated projection screens are located in front of loudspeakers.
The screen can be hooked to an audio device such as a laptop, for example, by using an audio input jack, so the user will be able to carry pout his/her presentations or conferences easily than before. Moreover, the Speaker Screen comes with a special accessory kit which includes even a carrying case as an optional accessory. Because of the fact that the Speaker Screen can fit anywhere, as it can be 'folded' and because it offers an enhanced performance, it can be a good alternative for a commercial cinema on a smaller scale, such as small theatres, businesses and home theatre enthusiasts.
The ASS-60AK Speaker Screen is already available in Japan from Kojima Co., Ltd. at a price of about 59,800.
