Sony Mobile is gearing up for the launch of its Xperia Z smartphone in various markets around the world, including Japan, where wireless carrier NTT DOCOMO will launch it on February 9.

Officially unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January, the smartphone has already emerged in stores in Japan.

Only demo units for the mobile phone were seen there, it seems, but they would still provide users with a first-hand experience.

TalkAndroid notes that Yodobashi Camera has published the above photo showing the Kichijoji store, where the first Xperia Z units are getting ready to land in users’ hands, but with no specific release date available as of now.

The 5-inch full HD smartphone arrives on shelves with waterproof and dustproof capabilities, as well as with a quad-core processor, a 13MP camera and Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS loaded on top.
