The average working woman takes about 38 minutes getting ready for work, most of them spent on applying makeup and styling the hair. With all this effort, the entire look only lasts a little over 2 hours, a new poll has revealed.

Conducted by Imperial Leather SkinKind on 2,000 women and 2,000 gents, the survey showed that the put-together look lasts until precisely a little over 10 o'clock in the morning, the Daily Mail informs.

On average, about 2 hours and 22 minutes after the makeup was applied and the hair done, everything starts to fall apart, for lack of a better term.

By lunch break, most women consider there's no longer anything they can do about their look, stop looking at themselves in the mirror and just get on with work.

When they leave for home at the end of the working day, the ladies believe they look nothing like they did when they set out for the office that same morning, the poll's findings indicate.

About a third of men agree of them. However, half of the 2,000 men polled say they see no difference in how women look in the morning and how they look at the end of working hours, and that they're beautiful throughout the day.

“The majority of women take time in the mornings to look the best they possibly can. They want to look smart and professional, plus it boosts confidence to look good,” Rebecca Wilson of Imperial Leather SkinKind says of the findings.

“But it seems that a stressful commute combined with a couple of killer hours in the office leaves their appearance less than perfect,” Wilson continues.

A compromise solution is to carry makeup and beauty products with them at work, which explains why some women's bags are loaded with hair brushes, lipstick, mascara or even deodorant.

“Consequently, most women struggle to get to the end of the working day looking like they did first thing in the morning,” Wilson underlines.
