Classy fitness routine is proving immensely popular with the ladies

While countless women wear high heels on a daily basis and have fine, toned legs, many others still have trouble when it comes to getting up on them and walking gracefully. For those in the latter category a new class of fitness has been recently introduced, and is already enjoying great success: the high-heel fitness routine.

The aim of this class, however, is not to help females lose weight but, as hinted above, to teach them how to walk in their favorite heels without looking highly uncomfortable and awkward. As a side focus, it is also meant to shape women’s legs, making them stronger, more beautiful and, at the same time, more reliable when it comes to wearing high heels.

The explanation for this new class is very simple, as Rosalind Neilen, fitness instructor, puts it: these days, heels are getting higher and higher, to the point where doing something as simple as crossing the street in them can prove to be potentially harmful for any woman. As such, she has come up with the idea of a fitness class specially to teach females how to strengthen their leg muscles and learn how to walk in heels.

Other than the first part of the class, the routine is just like any other aerobics class focusing on the lower part of the body. There are plenty of lounges and squats, performed at great speed and with a focus on them being correct, as well as walking and dancing. For the first part of the routine, though, the focusing is on the heels. Women bring their favorite shoes from home (which are probably gathering dust in some forgotten box anyway), put them on, and dance to the music, performing the same steps as the trainer.

Once they become accustomed to the routine, they are asked to break out of their sneakers, as mentioned, to work the muscles better. By combining exercises on heels and in sneakers, this routine is also meant to help females improve balance when wearing the towering shoes, as well as to make them feel comfy in them by constant practice.

Of course, women don’t really need to go to the gym to learn how to walk in heels or to tone their legs with them, other trainers argue. The same exercises can also be performed at home on a flat surface (without a carpet, if possible), with the same awesome results.
