Ubisoft has confirmed that work on the Assassin’s Creed movie has been fast tracked, as it’s struck a new partnership with New Regency and Fox and a screenplay is currently being produced. What’s more, actor Michael Fassbender is still attached to the project and will star in the film.

The Assassin’s Creed series has been around for quite some time, impressing gamers ever since its first installment came out back in 2007.

Now, with Assassin’s Creed 3 set to appear next week, Ubisoft has confirmed that the recently announced movie based on the series has entered pre-production.

The publisher has revealed, via Variety, that it struck a deal with production companies New Regency and Fox, and that a screenplay is currently being written for the project.

Ubisoft will continue to maintain creative control over “key elements” of the movie and actor Michael Fassbender, of X-Men: First Class or Prometheus fame, is still going to star in the movie.

Ubisoft and its partners hope to have a full script, a director, and a cast until next summer, when filming should start, so let’s hope it won’t end up being a lackluster experience like the Prince of Persia movie.
