One of the latest applications that Android mobile phone users can now download from the Android Market and enjoy on their handsets is the WordPress application. The new software solution has been announced in version 1.0, and is said to be the successor of wpToGo, which has Dan Roundhill as developer, and which will be discontinued from the Android Market and replaced with the Open Source WordPress for Android app.

Here's what the dev team had to say about the newly launched solution: “We’re pleased to announce that WordPress for Android is now available in the Android Market. The initial release has focused on giving you the ability to manage your blog while on the go. Features include the ability to: * Configure and manage multiple blogs * Comment moderation including the ability to reply to comments * Create and Edit Posts including categories, tags and photos * Create and Edit Pages * Get notified of new comments in the Android notification bar.”

At the same time, the developers note that the new WordPress for Android 1.0 app should be a very familiar software solution for all those who already use the popular wpToGo app for Android. All the development efforts behind wpToGo will turn towards the new WordPress app, and they also say that they welcome anyone who wishes the give a hand for the advancements of the solution.

In addition, a video presentation of the new WordPress for Android 1.0 application is also available, offering those new to the software solution the possibility to learn what it is all about, and also enabling older users to get familiar with the new release. Those interested in downloading the new software solution on their Android-based mobile phones can either head over to the company's website to do so, or they can enter the Android Market for a direct download.
