WordPress.com has debuted a very interesting if not highly original feature, Notifications. Taking a few design cues from Google notifications, in the navbar, the new feature aims to make it easy to keep up with activity on your blog.

"Your blog lives and breathes. Today we’re launching a new way for you to check its pulse. It’s called Notifications, and it lives in the right corner of your Toolbar (Admin Bar)," WordPress.com announced.

Whenever someone likes a post or starts following your blog, you'll be notified. You can see who likes your content and even follow them back from the same interface.

WordPress has bigger plans for the feature, it will add new types of notifications, for example for comments, but also make it possible to keep track of past notifications.

There are also plans to adapt the feature for those that would see far too many likes or follows to be able to keep up.
