Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is “a cinematic platformer” on a 2.5D playground for PC. The game is developed by Grin Gamestudio and it's now available for purchase via Steam.

Fans of side-scrolling platformers can now purchase it on Steam Early Access for $9.99, €9.99, £6.99 and CDN $10.99, but that will only be the first volume of the adventure.

The second volume will be released in August 2015. Keep in mind that purchasing Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries on Steam Early Access will cover only the first volume, so for volume 2 you will have to pay separately when it launches.

"This is not a fairytale. There’s nothing fair about it"

First of all, Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is not a PC-exclusive title, as developer Grin confirmed the game would eventually arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles later this year.

Moving on to the actual gameplay, Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is not your standard fairytale. Even though the background and some of the characters might suggest that, this is in a dark, gritty platformer where players will meet deranged fairytale enemies while playing as Red Riding Hood.

The heroine of the game is armed with an axe (yes, an AXE), which can be used in various combos to inflict maximum damage on her enemies.

Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is being released following a successful Kickstarter campaign from last summer. The game has been “greenlit” on Steam in just 5 days and has also been nominated for Best PC & Console Project during GDC 2014.

The game was also chosen by Microsoft to be featured as one of the ID@XBOX titles shown last year at E3, so there is little else to say to hype Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries.

We’ll be taking a look at the early version to be launched on Steam today and we’ll cover it in a preview article later this week, so stay tuned.
