If you have a 3D printer, you can even design your own

If you’re a parent, you are probably trying to find ways of keeping your kids away from the iPad and other expensive pieces of gadgetry around the house.

Not only is the little one a potential disruptor of working electronics, but many studies have shown kids shouldn’t be allowed to play on tablets on a daily basis, as prolonged exposure to bright, colorful screens can cause long-term development deficits.

Anyway, if mainstream toys aren’t enough to keep your little one interested, maybe you should turn your attention to Kickstarter, where an interesting project is currently seeking out funds.

Develop your creativity with WoodyMac

WoodyMac is a collection of large, sturdy architectural sets dedicated to all kids out there who have a love for building, but parents are invited to join in the fun as well.

Actually, WoodyMac says their fun-loving setup can be used to provide inspiration to architects and designers that are looking to come up with new ideas and want to think out of the box.

WoodyMac is made up of wooden construction blocks which attach to one another by virtue of magnets.

WoodyMac wants to help children and parents alike develop their creativity, as well as architectural and engineering-friendly spatial vision and the capacity to manipulate 2D and 3D objects.

Children will be able to build anything from a castle or fancy home to a supermarket and more.

Since we’re living in the era of technology, WoodyMac doesn't want to miss in the fun. Albeit being a traditional game, WoodyMac will be shipped with a dedicated mobile application that lets user share their progress and the final result.

The application has an ulterior purpose, it will let users create custom designs, modify blue-prints and order custom parts for their dream projects.

So if you have been musing over building an airport or a casino or anything really, WoodyMac gives you the chance to do it.

For those parents that worry about safety, WoodyMac says their blocks are built from all-natural, non-toxic, allergy-safe materials. They are actually made of beech wood and plywood with neodymium magnets to snap the pieces together.

WoodyMac already surpassed its funding goal

As we told you, WoodyMac is currently gathering up funds on Kickstarter. You can access their webpage yourself and make a pledge right this instant. For $20 / €18 you will be getting a collapsible photo frame coming with a center panel engraved with words of thanks from the inventor of WoodyMac.

If you want more, you can go ahead and take out $65 / €51 out of your pocket, which will get you a Starter Kit made up of 88 pieces plus a free downloadable app.

The estimated shipping date is set out for March 2015 and you still have 43 days to go before the campaign ends (although the funding goal has been reached).

Anyway, take a look in the gallery to get an idea about what exactly you can do with WoodyMac. Imagination is the limit here!
