Not long ago, Alicia Silverstone was talking about how going vegan when she was young completely changed her life, allowing her now, at 32, to look better even than many women much younger. Woody Harrelson, dubbed by the media as the ultimate hippie, is also a vegetarian and has been so since he was in his 20s, although, in his case, the change in diet was for purely cosmetic reasons, PageSix writes.

According to the source, the actor has recently admitted that, while he swears by vegetarianism, he did not turn to it because he believed in animals’ rights or thought he should be less cruel towards nature, as it was the case with other stars. On the contrary, the actor simply wanted to rid himself of the bad case of acne he had at the time, and listened to a piece of advice a stranger gave him one day. When he saw it worked, he continued with the diet.

“Woody Harrelson didn’t become vegan just to protect animals – there was some vanity involved. The star tells Maxim that he gave up dairy foods to help clear up his skin. ‘I was about 24 years old, and I had tons of acne,’ he told the magazine. ‘I met some random girl on a bus who told me to quit dairy and all those symptoms would go away three days later.’ Harrelson added, ‘By God, she was right.’” the actor said of the new diet.

As we were also telling you just a short while back, actress Alicia Silverstone also credits being a vegan with the clear, youthful skin she has now. Since she broke in the industry when she was very young, she became attracted to the Hollywood party scene almost immediately and the effects of that did not fail to become visible on her face. However, once she changed her diet, she started feeling better and, most importantly, her skin constantly improved, even with the passing of the time.

“I didn’t come at it, honestly, from a health point of view. I was 21 when I went vegan. And when anybody told me to be healthy, I thought people were just telling me [to lose weight] because I’m in this business. So I was like, ‘Go [expletive] yourself!’ [Laughs.] Yet when I look at those pictures from back then, I can see the puffiness in my eyes. It’s weird to be 32 now and feel and look younger... Right after I first made the switch to a plant-based diet, people were literally telling me, ‘What have you done? You’re sparkling.’” Silverstone was saying just a short while ago about the countless benefits of a healthier diet.
