Come on, baby, light my fire!

A Russian man has designed a wooden mobile phone capable of packing all the capabilities of regular such devices. The handset is that kind that will surely stand out, as talking on a log in the middle of the street will surely attract some attention.

The slim mobile phones with shiny metals and capable of providing the most evolved technology are out. Bulky, heavy and ugly wooden ones plan to launch a new trend. Actually not, but the Russian phone model has really managed to attract some attention and even the appreciation of several handset users.

The wooden phone looks just as the first Nokia and Sony Ericsson handset models that have been put up for sale. If the idea were picked up and used at a large scale, we should see some slim and compact versions of this device sometime during the next few years. Of course, that is most unlikely to happen, as such a device is neither practical nor comfortable.

The Russian man that has built this device must be a highly skilled carpenter, as he has taken care of all important details that needed extra attention. He left only the plastic keypad, monocrome display screen and some internal parts unchanged. If possible, there are high chances that he would have replaced them too, but the device needed at least the basic amount of technology to be included.

When fully disassembled, the wooden phone also reveals a battery hidden inside a wooden bar and a sim-card packed in a smaller bar. Moreover, the antenna is also covered in wood, although that can't possibly be a good thing.

The author believes that, in time, gadget manufacturers will turn to wood. That's one perspective on the future. Or maybe they will turn to carton, or combine wood with carton, oh, the possibilities! Let's just hope that we will not have paper bag cars or fully wooden computers.
