It is obvious that the kids today will never learn some of the games we used to play 20 or 30 years ago. Growing up with a computer or an iPad in their hands, they tend to get fat because of the lack of exercise.

Wonderblox wants to connect the games from the '80s and '90s to a modern device using a simple and cheap device. The project launched on Kickstarter by Dave Kunitz of stui.co promises "a new type of play experience. Your iPad brings toys to life, taking play to the next level."

The project creator starts off by explaining how the kids today are growing up in a different environment. They have access to technologies like computers, game consoles, smartphones and tablets from the day they are born.

Technology offers amazing possibilities and they can grow to love it and make the most of it. However, playtime is not the same as it used to be. Cars, dolls, action figures, board games and Legos do not fit in between their eyes and the screen of the computer.

Wonderblox is imagined to be a digital game played with real toys. Using the ABC blocks you may have had when you were a kid and an iPad, you can take your kid's play to a new level.

The creator of this Kickstarter project says he is going to develop an iPad app that will recognize the iPad screen as the play area. You just have to put the iPad in a special box that has a lid with a mirror attached. The iPad's FaceTime camera will "see" what the kid will place on the screen and match it with virtual blocks.

This set is designed for kids from three to six years old. It requires a regular-sized iPad that has a camera (version 2 or later) and iOS 6.0 or later.

This is also a great way to teach English to young kids because the kit has the blocks included in the box.

There are a few rewards to get if you pledge for Wonderblox on Kickstarter. The first one that will get you the full package is just $30 (22 Euro). Pay $20 extra and you will also get a PDF Coloring Book and a T-shirt.

Wonderblox still has 15 days to go on Kickstarter so make sure to visit their page right after you watch the video below. They still need almost $35,000 to turn this into something real.
