Gamer girls get their own mag

Looks like girls are taking over everything, even the gaming universe. As a recent study showed that 2 out of 3 online gamers are girls, some companies are trying to capitalize on this, and focus on developing gaming-related products for girls.

Computed Media AG, a German-based company, has decided to take advantage of this "niche" and to release a gaming magazine meant just for girls. It will come out this holiday season as GameSpot reports. Because their main target audience is girls, they want the magazine to be "fresh, bold, upbeat and feminine" (I'm about to puke). According to Editor-in-chief, Petra Frolich "women want to play too, but are quite different from men in the demands they place on a game".

It will be called "Game Vanilla" and the first issue will be a supplement to Joy magazine (another chick magazine). It will hit newsstands on December 4. You may accuse me of being misogynistic but consider this: are all the other gaming magazines meant exclusively for men? Does it say on them FOR MEN ONLY? It certainly does not!

In fact, if we are to look at the published magazines world from a larger perspective, there are much, much more mags for chicks than there are men magazines. Couldn't we men, have just this one? Couldn't gaming be just for us? I guess not?.
