AT&T has conducted a study in order to better understand the market that they are providing services for. As a result of this, they have reached the conclusion that men are actually more frequent users of their mobile phone devices when compared to women.

Everybody considers that women are by nature predisposed to talking on their mobile phones for long periods of time. Still, history shows just the opposite. It is true that the general tendency is for women to take over the leading position for this type of chatting, but in the past the gap between the amount of time that the two genders used to talk on their mobile phones was even greater. In 2002, men used to spend almost 600 minutes talking on their cellulars, while women needed only an average of 400.

"Women are quickly catching up with men in cell phone usage, illustrating that all consumers enjoy the flexibility and mobility that wireless phones add as they communicate with friends, family and business colleagues," said Tim Klein, vice president at AT&T's wireless unit.

At this time, the difference between the amount of time that men and women talk on mobile phones has dropped down to only 5 minutes. It's a small difference, but still counts when trying to prove the fact that it's not women who are most chatty. Further results of the survey have revealed that women prefer wireless phones for talking to their friends and family, whereas men use it mainly for business conversations.

AT&T is a leading communications holding company. They bring some of the most evolved IP-based business communications services and the leading Internet access and voice services in the United States. The results that they have just published are part of a study which AT&T has been conducting since 2001.
