A study conducted by the Glasgow and the Paisley universities revealed that most of the computer workers are stressed by emails and need to check their inbox several times per hour. The study included 200 workers and was led by researcher Karen Renaud from Glasgow University and by Judith Ramsay, a psychologist from Paisley University, Pocket-Lint reports. According to this source, the research showed that most of the respondents are checking their email four times an hour but some of them installed email clients configured to check the inbox at about 1.3 minutes.

28 percent of the users sustained they feel stressed by the email and need to check it while 38 percent of them can wait a long period of time such as a day until they finally read their email messages. The women are the most affected by the email stress because they revealed that a message must be quickly replied.

This is quite obvious if we think the email is one of the most popular communication methods on the Internet. Most of the Internet users have at least one email address while the online companies can have an impressive number of accounts. Also, the email evolves a lot and huge providers such as Google and Yahoo are striving to offer better services and more powerful functions to bring more consumers to their solutions. Google and Gmail represent the best example because the Mountain View giant improves the service periodically in order to convince the users that its mail product is the best technology on the Internet.

However, it's easier to install an email client and let it auto-check your inbox for new messages. While numerous software companies are planning to develop their own products, other firms such as Mozilla abandoned their email tools to be focused on other applications.
