They say one should never ask a woman’s age, especially if all the signs are there clearly pointing that she passed the once-dreaded 30 threshold. A new study comes to reveal that, somehow, this is no longer the case, since the mentality of women regarding age has changed, and they now see themselves as most beautiful in their 30s, which would mean a considerable step forward in terms of self-image.

The survey has been carried out by Willow Water, the brand of bottled water that is said to improve the quality of the skin, on 1,500 British women. The findings have been surprising for many, as they hint that being a fresh-faced 20-something is no longer as cracked up to be as it once was.

More specifically, one fifth of the women queried have said they feel most beautiful as they peak 40. Thirty-eight percent have emphasized that they are the happiest and feel accomplished in their early 30s, which would be explained by their life experience, a satisfying love life and trying to eat and live healthy.

Psychologist Dr. Sandra Wheatley has spoken to the Daily Mail, and has revealed that the results of the survey have not been only extremely encouraging, but also a reason to consider a new shift in women’s mentality. “It sounds to me like women are becoming much more swayed by personality. It’s a sign that we are valued for who we are and what we are capable of, not just what is on the surface. Feeling beautiful is tied in with confidence and life experience.” she explains.

Moreover, the survey could also point out, Wheatley further states, that women have finally learned that, in today’s society, it’s not so much how they look that’s valued, but who they are as individuals. “At 32, a woman has been through and survived more experiences and achieved more than at 22. Women can be their own worst enemy, scrutinizing each other’s weight and wrinkles. But this is a really encouraging study that beauty is more than skin deep.” Wheatley adds.

I think this story shows just how much growing there is left to do in the small minds of our society. It seems they let anyone write these days. This story is full of cliches that only work to further oppress women into believing that physical beauty is linked to youth "beauty is more than skin deep" - "More swayed by personality" Pfft. Give me a break. Women not only feel beautiful, but simply LOOK more beautiful in their 30s, fine lines and all!
