Specialists explain beards are commonly associated with little romantic availability

A team of researchers writing in the scientific journal Evolution and Human Behavior maintain that, all things considered, women are bound to hate the beards some men choose to sport.

The researchers are not saying that there are no exceptions to this behavior. Still, they wish to stress the fact that, as a general rule, a woman might be less willing to become romantically involved with a man whose beard is nothing if not likely to make some heads turn.

Interestingly enough, it appears that women do not only approve of, but they also fancy a stubble, the specialists go on to argue.

Daily Mail informs us that the women who hate beards do so because they tend to associate them with little romantic availability.

More precisely, they more or less consciously believe that men with beards are less likely to become attached to them in a romantic manner, and are therefore not worth the bother.

The University of New South Wales researchers who pieced together this study believe that most women's innate disapproval of beards when the time comes for them to look for a romantic partner stems from the fact that men with beards strike people as more aggressive than others.

As the specialists explain, other men may be open to respecting and valuing these implied character traits, yet women are likely to shy away from them.

According to the same source, the researchers deduced that most women hate fully-bearded men after asking several volunteers to have a look at pictures of ten young individuals and comment on their attractiveness.

Apparently, clean-shaved, light stubble and heavy stubble got the top scores, whereas fully bearded failed in getting the ladies' attention.

The women did not deny the fact that the men who sported full-grown beards appeared to be the most masculine.

Still, as one other previous study has shown, it appears that excessive masculinity can sometimes prove detrimental.
