Danielle Perez lost both her legs in an accident in 2004, was quite amused when she won the treadmill

Whoever happens to be in charge of the insanely popular game show The Price Is Right made a complete fool of themselves when they offered a treadmill to a woman in a wheelchair.

The woman, Daniella Perez of Los Angeles, lost both her legs in an accident in 2004. We're not in the habit of stating the obvious, but we'll go ahead and do so just this once: people in wheelchairs don't have much use for treadmills.

On the bright side, Daniella Perez also got to take home a sauna, which she won when she guessed its price tag. Apparently, the treadmill and the sauna were a package deal.

Check out the video below to get a better idea of how this rather cringeworthy The Price Is Right episode that aired on Tuesday played out. Note: the clip will probably make you feel the need for a wholehearted face-palm.

Daniella Perez was terribly amused when she won the treadmill

Rather than get angry and ask for some other prize, Daniella Perez was quite amused when she was told that she had just won a sauna and a treadmill. The plot twist did take her by surprise, but she simply laughed the entire affair off.

“I kept thinking that it was a really big joke. But there was no irony in their cheers or applause,” the young woman said in an interview, as cited by DM.

People in the audience were almost as surprised as Danielle Perez when the prizes were announced. For a few moments, they fell silent. As the contestant put it, “Like you could feel the audience go, ‘Wait a minute, that is not appropriate.’”

In an attempt to sort things out, the game show's organizers did not take long to release a statement saying that the prizes are not chosen depending on the contestants but are instead selected long before the show.
