The mother sees absolutely nothing wrong with it

6 years ago, Maha Al Musa from the town Byron Bay in New South Wales Australia delivered a healthy baby girl. The young lady is now all grown up. She goes to school, loves hanging out with her friends and is as happy as can be.

Amina looks and acts like any other child her age, so, to many, she's just another schoolgirl. Except for one minute detail that had both her and her mother grab headlines: Maha Al Musa still breastfeeds her.

The woman wants to keep breastfeeding her till she's 10

52-year-old Maha Al Musa sees nothing wrong with the fact that she is still breastfeeding her daughter despite the fact that Amina is now 6 years old.

She claims that, for starters, the girl very much enjoys the taste of her milk. “Sometimes it [the milk] tastes like candy canes,” Amina herself said in an interview.

Further, the daily ritual helps build a strong bond between them, the woman goes on to argue. Not to mention the fact that breastfeeding is what's keeping the child healthy.

Apparently, Maha Al Musa is so convinced her milk is enough to keep the 6-year-old free from disease that she hasn't even immunized the young girl.

Rather, she's counting on antibodies, vitamins, proteins and fat Amina suckles from her breast to train the girl's body to fight the conditions other children are simply vaccinated against.

“Let child and mother choose what’s best for them, their circumstance and family,” the woman said in a statement. Furthermore, “If one woman feels comfortable and another uncomfortable then so be it.”

52-year-old Maha Al Musa would like to go on breastfeeding her daughter until she is about 10, Oddity Central tells us. Amina, on the other hand, admits she might want to stop when she turns 8.

Not everybody shares Maha Al Musa views on motherhood

Maha Al Musa and her daughter Amina share the cover of the latest issue of Woman's Day Magazine, which explains why their story is now making the rounds.

The 52-year-old explains that, having agreed to pose for the magazine and share her story with the world, she's been subject to intense criticism.

She's been told that her behavior is downright repulsive and that she should stop breastfeeding Amina, both for her sake and for her child's wellbeing.

To these people who for some reason cannot stomach her life choices and feel the need to dissect and debate them, Maha Al Musa has one thing to say: they should just mind their own business.
