One woman in New Jersey is taking her plastic surgeon to court on claims that he didn’t warn her of the dangers of eyelid surgery. Since the intervention, Marilyn Leisz has been unable to close her eyes – and she wants the doctor to pay for that.

Leisz spoke to CBS 2 about her problem, explaining how her condition doesn’t allow her to do any of the things she loved so much doing before the surgery, as the video below will confirm.

She admits that she had several other interventions on her eyelids. In fact, it was a botched surgery that brought her to Dr. Paul Parker in 2005, who promised her everything will be alright again.

Not once did he tell her that there were risks with the procedure and that she could be left unable to close her eyes fully for the rest of her life.

Leisz says there is an intervention that can fix her problem, but she’s lost all faith in surgeons and is now too scared to go under the knife again.

“To blink I really have to really squeeze my eyes to… fully close my eyes,” she says, giving a demonstration in the video below.

“He should have been honest with me and told me I was not a candidate and suggested other options for me,” Leisz stresses.

Dr. Parker and his attorney insist she was told of all the risks she was running when she went under the knife, but another surgeon believes she shouldn’t even have been considered for the interventions because of the sheer number of previous surgeries she’d already had on the same area.

“All the favorite things I used to, like tennis, racquetball, swimming, horseback riding, bike riding, skeet shooting, gardening, I can’t do those things,” Leisz laments.

Leisz and her lawyer are seeking unspecified damages from Dr. Parker for negligence. The case will resume this Wednesday.
