Earlier this week, on Tuesday, a woman in the US was taken into police custody after being found guilty of having stolen an impressive $6,400 (some €5,100) worth of sausages from her employer.

The woman, identified as 45-year-old Regina Shaw, used to work at the Kiolbassa Provision Company in the city of San Antonio in Texas, police officers in charge of investigating this case say.

Apparently, she was taken into police custody after she was caught on surveillance footage leaving work and taking a pallet of meat product with her, Huffington Post informs.

Even weirder, the 45-year-old woman is understood to have stolen the sausage meat looking to pay off a loan. Thus, she reportedly gave part of the meat to a man named Peter Medellin, whom she had borrowed money from some time ago.

After being arrested, Regina Shaw was charged with felony theft and put behind bars. The woman was eventually released after posting a $5,000 (about €4,000) bail.

In case anyone was wondering, the 45-year-old meat thief no longer works at the Kiolbassa Provision Company in San Antonio, Texas. In fact, her employer took a very inspired decision to fire her on the very same day that she was arrested.

As far as the sausage meat is concerned, it is unclear whether the police managed to recover be it at least part of it.
