14 DAY TRIAL // 30-year-old Angela Buchanan from Lufkin, Texas was arrested yesterday for impersonation, after posing as a gynecologist online.
According to Lufkin Daily News, her 51-year-old victim suffered from breast cancer. The woman pretended to be a doctor, even using the Yahoo! Messenger handle “Doc.”
She suggested they begin a relationship, boasting about the health benefits of a healthy romantic life, which was sure to increase hormone production.
The “Doc” went over all the woman's medical test results, and accompanied the woman when she underwent reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy. In August, they committed their lives to eachother in a civil marriage ceremony.
It wasn't until the victim’s daughter started investigating her partner that she found out she had been conned. Angela Buchanan was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor charge and stands to pay a $4,000 (€3,000) fine and spend a year in jail.
