A 35-year-old woman living in China probably brewed the world's most expensive drink when she accidentally set fire to a whole lot of money while trying to make a cup of tea.

The money, amounting to a jaw-dropping £20,000 (nearly €28,000 / $30,000), were meant for workers employed by the construction company owned by the woman's 39-year-old husband.

Apparently, it was her husband who gave her the money and asked her to keep it secret, keep it safe. Looking not to disappoint him, the woman hid the money in a wood-burning stove.

After this, she forgot all about it. One day, when she happened to be in the mood for some tea, she simply threw a match inside the stove, Daily Mail informs.

It wasn't until she opened the stove to add some more wood to the fire that the woman saw the money and realized what she had done. By then, however, it was too late.

The couple tried to convince officials with the Bank of China to replace their damaged banknotes with new ones. Unfortunately, they were told the cash was too badly burnt to be exchanged.

Although he has not yet figured out where he will get the money to pay his workers, the woman's husband says that he is no longer mad at her and that he is confident they will find a way to get out of this.

“It was a hard blow, and my wife is devastated,” the 39-year-old told the press in an interview. “But I have forgiven her, and we will survive,” he added.
