32-year-old KT Coates, one of the most acclaimed and popular fitness instructors in the world for her online classes and materials on pole dancing, has managed to do the seemingly impossible by qualifying for a spot in the finals of the bodybuilding national championship. The feat in itself is nothing extraordinary for the athlete, as it’s for her having done so only 8 weeks after giving birth, as the British publication the Daily Mail informs.

Coates is now in the running for the title of fitness instructor of the year in the UK and, clearly, her latest achievement will speak volumes in her favor, showing that she truly deserves the accolade. Two months after giving birth to a healthy and beautiful daughter, she landed a spot in the finals for the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation (BNBF), coming in second, says the same publication. Of course, in order to get her body back in shape for the competition (and one must bear in mind that this is no longer a simple issue of losing the baby weight), Coates trained hard, spending many hours at the gym.

Weight and cardio training, and, of course, pole dancing for a few hours a day have helped Coates get rid of the baby weight and tone her muscles again just in time for the competition. And the hard work is not over yet, as she’s to continue with the same grueling routine until October, when the BNBF finals will take place in Scotland. One thing that Coates is grateful for right now is that she doesn’t have to go on a diet since she’s still nursing her daughter and doesn’t want to lose her milk.

Nevertheless, “it was not easy to get up on the stage in this year’s heat eight weeks after giving birth. But I reckon I have got a good chance of coming third in the finals if I get in shape.” Coates says for the Mail. So, with this in mind, she set out to work out and shake off the pounds she put on while pregnant. The routine did not keep her away from her daughter either, the bodybuilder reveals, since she tried to make sure she did not miss out on her mommy-time to train for the competition.

“I was absolutely determined not to get stuck with that little pot belly like so many other new mums. I was swimming, cycling and running up until two days before Blossom’s birth and had a really easy labor with no drugs or stitches. Luckily when I went back for my first pole dancing session I had just stopped hurting down below. I started off training gently and avoided sit-ups for the first few weeks because they can give you a pole-axed womb. Blossom comes everywhere with me as I exercise – my cardio training is an hour of speed walking along the river with her in the buggy.” the bodybuilder reveals.

Side by side photos of Mrs. Coates before and after giving birth show that, indeed, her achievement is amazing – even if many will wonder whether it’s also in tune with her or anyone’s health goals.
