14 DAY TRIAL // About a decade ago, a woman named Barbarella Buchner decided that she was done with men but not done with romance. Hence, on January 9, 2004, she married her two pets cats, which she got from a shelter back in 2000.
No, really. This lady actually married her cats. You can find the marriage certificate below if you doubt it. The three have been together ever since, and in just a few days from now, they will celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The woman says that she decided to tie the knot with her cats of all living creatures because, after having broken up with her partner of 7 years, she realized that the felines were the only ones that loves her unconditionally.
Barbarella Buchner claims that having two cats as husbands is actually quite nice and that she could not care less about what people might have to say about her life choices. What matters is that she is perfectly happy.
“My two cats are my soul mates. They're the loves of my life. Lugosi and Spider are different - I'm definitely happily married to them,” the 48-year-old web designer said in an interview, as cited by Mirror.
“Before when I had a human relationship, he'd come home and we'd argue over something or he'd want to chat when I don't want to chat,” Barbarella Buchner added.
Apparently, the woman, who now lives in London, grew up surrounded by cats. She always hoped that, one day, she would get at least one or two cats that would be her own and that she would not have to share.
Still, it's safe to assume that this woman never imagined that she would one day marry her pet felines and live a long, happy life by their side.
