A 35-year-old woman named Carla McFarland, who now lives in Maryland, US, claims to have come across a bag of marijuana while feasting on an order of French fries she got at a local Sonic restaurant.

Media reports say that the incident occurred this past Wednesday in the city of Frederick. The Sonic restaurant where the woman was offered the very special French fries order is the one on Guilford Drive.

Talking to the press, 35-year-old Carla McFarland explains that, on said date, she took her two children, ages 6 and 8, to the fast food restaurant. The family was merely looking to enjoy a meal together.

Carla McFarland says that she placed the order, and that soon enough she and her children were brought their food. The woman first made sure that everything was OK with the kids' meal, and then turned her attention to her French fries.

Thus, the woman simply opened the bag, and started eating. By the looks of it, she got to chew on a few fries before realizing that the bag contained one extra treat that she did not order nor had any interest in consuming.

This extra treat was a fairly small bag of marijuana, NBC Washington informs. Naturally, the 35-year-old woman and mother of two was quite freaked out by the discovery, and immediately alerted the restaurant's management.

As was to be expected, the police was also contacted, and soon enough officers reported to this Sonic restaurant on Guilford Drive in Frederick, Maryland. The woman admits that, by the time they got there, she was a bit frightened.

“I kept thinking, what if my kids had eaten it?” the woman comments on this incident in an interview. Luckily, this was not the case, and, except for the fact that they were probably a wee shaken up by all the commotion, no harm came to the children.

By the looks of it, the weed belonged to a restaurant employee who later admitted that it must have fallen from her apron and into the bag while she was preparing the family's meal. Following this incident, the employee in question was fired.

“When she asked the three employees, one of the young ladies stepped up and said it was hers. It didn't take very long, and I guess at that point they just said that they fired her,” Carla McFarland explains in a statement.

For the time being, it is unclear whether or not the employee responsible for the incident will be charged. As far as the 35-year-old woman and her children are concerned, it looks like they not only received a refund from the Sonic restaurant, but were also offered a free meal.
