The police are now trying to figure out where the cocaine came from and how it ended up in the granola bar

Officers in Texas, US, are now hard at work trying to figure out how a small bag of high-quality cocaine ended up in an otherwise perfectly legal granola bar.

The bag of cocaine, a photo of which is available below, was discovered by an unsuspecting elderly woman living in the city of San Antonio quite a while ago, on March 18.

Even so, police officers are still clueless about the origin of the drug. In fact, it took a few weeks for the peculiar white powder to even be confirmed to be cocaine.

The woman first assumed the cocaine was a prize of sorts

When the bag of cocaine fell from the Nature Valley granola bar's wrapper, the woman, identified as Cynthia Rodriguez, assumed it was some sort of prize.

Not knowing what kind of prize it might have been or what to do with it, she contacted the granola company. She was told to call the local police and inform them of her find.

The woman did just so and, a few tests later, the white powder was revealed to be high-quality cocaine.

In a statement issued earlier this week, the granola company stresses that there is no way the drug ended up in the granola bar's wrapper in their factory.

Since the snack did not look like it had been tampered with when Cynthia Rodriquez opened it, this makes it even more difficult to establish where the cocaine came from.

The woman doesn't care who put the drug in her granola bar

Law enforcement officers in San Antonio, Texas, might be very much preoccupied with solving this little mystery, but Cynthia Rodriguez doesn't really care who put the cocaine in her granola bar.

Rather, she's just happy that it was she who found the drug and not one of her grandchildren, who might have mistaken it for powdered sugar.

“What if they thought it was sugar?” the woman told the press in an interview, as cited by Gawker.
